Admiration

Thursday, November 4th, 2010. I am invited to attend a dinner in which my boss, Marjory, has been invited as a guest speaker. The dinner is hosted by The Adoptive Families of Hong Kong. An association to connect, support and celebrate adoptive families in Hong Kong as well as create greater community awareness about adoption. They also work closely with another organisation Mother Choice, who support young pregnant women and acts as an adoption agency.

I have heard Marjory's story many times before. Yet there has been no other time in which I have felt so touched and moved by her story. Perhaps it is because after working closely with her, her team and the children I have become some what emotionally attached to the story.

I believe most of all I feel admiration for this women. She was 22 year of age with a young child of her own when her and her husband started caring for an abandoned child. 22! I am 22 now, the thought of having my own child frighten's me, let alone caring for someone else.

Regardless of my inability to imagine leading the life she did at just 22, I do see Marjory, her husband and the whole team at Cradle of Hope as endless sources of inspiration. Every day they open their hearts, believe in their god, their purpose and most of all care for children who need it the most. Really how could I not be inspired and feel so much admiration for these people.

Despite not sharing the same belief in religion and God. I admire their dedication and strength in their beliefs, especially in time in which are trying and could make you give up. It makes me see not matter what you value, believe and faith in it is important to keep true to it.

Cradle of Hope makes me strengthens my faith in humanity.

Please take a look at the great work these people do
